Safety Manager - Wm. Winkler Company www.wmwinkler.com is 104-year old family owned general contractor who is seeking to hire a Safety Manager. This individual must be knowledgeable, competent and committed to the protection of the health and safety of our employees, clients, subcontractors and the general public that we serve. The Safety Manager’s primary responsibility is to lead and manage the Company’s safety initiatives and safety loss prevention program including the development of a safety and risk management culture dedicated to being the “best in class.”
Essential Responsibilities
Leads the development of and clearly communicates the Company’s safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures in order to build a safety culture dedicated to behaviors which lead to “best in class” results.
Provide proactive leadership and assume ownership of building a best in class safety culture in partnering with the Senior Management, Superintendents, Foreman and all other organizational employees by:
1) anticipating problems and providing solutions
2) sharing knowledge with, and providing training to all levels of the organization including but not necessarily limited to management, field staff and project teams
3) through interactions with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors
4)creating an environment of learning, mentoring, and empowerment in order to promote an overall organizational involvement.
Monitor both organizational and construction activities to ensure compliance with all federal, state, county, and local safety regulations.
Ensure that safety and health training is in alignment with both internal and external (client and regulating entities) requirements, so that the organization has the safety training necessary to perform all tasks safely and efficiently.
Manage hazard assessment activities by 1) conducting and/or supervising safety inspections, and 2) analyzing inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective practices.
Act as corporate contact for any federal, state or municipal safety or risk management authority and/or personnel, including, but not limited to OSHA and DOSH.
Perform and oversee investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions to include interfacing with workers compensation claims and communication with injured workers and the return-to-work strategies.
Access ways for reducing claim costs and increasing the retrospective premium refund (AGC Retrospective Rating Program for L & I premiums).
Manage and oversee Wm. Winkler Company’s fleet safety.
Manage and oversee Wm. Winkler Company’s substance abuse policy and program.

* Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, safety management, industrial hygiene, construction or related field preferred.

At least 5 years of direct safety experience (preferred)
Knowledge of OSHA, DOSH, DOT, EPA and Workers Compensation regulations.
