Provide general administrative and technical leadership for company’s large scale multimillion-dollar construction/building projects. Point person for the project and steer the project forward. Manage one or more construction projects at a time. Supervise all activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and schedule. Analyze company's prime contract with the owner and all applicable subcontracts with subcontractors. Negotiate contracts with owners and subcontractors. Assist with preconstruction efforts as needed. Resolve major project issues and assign priorities. Secure all required permits and verify insurance coverage for subcontractors. Prepare and submit monthly job status reports. Create and update the project schedules by working with project team to ensure optimal sequence of operations and efficient use of resources, materials & labor & potential program schedule conflicts. Ensure project schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood. Oversee project budget, forecasting, and cost estimation. Coordinate with Superintendent to develop site logistics plan. Prepare cost proposals, requisitions, projections, and status reports. Schedule and facilitate all project meetings required to successfully coordinate work activity. Have thorough knowledge of all major project issues and priorities. Supervise and manage project team members, set goals and evaluate their performance. Train and develop direct reports utilizing on the job and internal and external training or development opportunities. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with counterparts at owner and engineering firms. Participate in proposals and presentations as requested. Maintain all project records and monitor correspondence. Supervise close out of project. Demonstrate company’s safety culture by driving a safety-oriented approach to work. Will supervise 3 Engineers.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a related field and 7 years of experience as a Project Engineer, Project Scheduler, Project Superintendent, Estimator, Quality Control Manager, or a closely related job involving construction project management. Will accept a Master’s degree and 5 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of experience.
Experience must include managing and/or supervising construction projects successfully from start to finish. Skilled at negotiating and developing relationships with owners and subcontractors. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. Drug Testing/Screening and Background Check required.
Work location: Clark Construction Group, LLC., 7500 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. Travel/relocation to various unanticipated project locations nationwide.
